Bellevue, WA - At Bellevue College, Oregon State-bound John Pomeroy pitched the 15th 1-hitter in Mudville Pinnacle history, taking a perfect game into the 7th before the Spokane Expos broke the no-no with a single. A near catch by diving RF Duncan Skerrett to save the perfecto followed by a Derek Jeter-like run and catch by SS Will Hall sealed the win for Pinnacle (30-19).
It took only 82 pitches with error free defense to subdue the Spokanites. Pomeroy had 5 strikeouts and the Pinnacle offense had five hits, the key blow by 3B Jake Walker's RBI single in the 4th inning. It would be the only run of the game. The last 1-hitter was thrown ny teammate LHP Mack Gaul last season. The soon-to-be Washington Husky pitched a 1-hitter, ironically at nearby Bannerwood Park in a 1-0 loss in 8 innings.
Mudville is now 2-1 at the Baden Invitation with a 1st round, extra inning loss to the TC Saints and a 9-1 victory over the Washingon Wave in 6 innings.
