Mudville Coaches Attend Long-standing Regional Coaches Convention

2012 NWBC Baseball Convention

Portland, OR - The annual NWBC Baseball Convention was held on January 13-15, 2012 at the Embassy Suites PDX in Portland, Oregon. Mudville coaches enjoyed three great days of baseball instruction from highly respected coaches and acknowledged presenters in motivational and other related topics.

Long-time Mudville Coaches Kurt Boyd, Jim McGuire, Jerry Thornton, Tim Wells and Travis Fox engaged with professional, college and high school coaches, special guests and suppliers throughout the weekend. Mudville coaches have been attending this exceptional regional convention since its inception over a decade ago.

Top clinicians included Bruce Brown, President of Pro Active Coaching and presenter at the 2012 ABCA Convention. Other noted participants included Pat Bailey (OSU), Zane Kelly (Athletes in Motion), Mark Yoshino (NWACC winner from Bellevue CC), Donnie Marbut (Head Coach from WSU), Jim Parque (former Major League starter and President of Big League Edge), Shawn Humberger (Head Coach from College of Idaho), Special Guest Presenter Garye Lafevers (President of the Arizona HS Baseball Assoc), Donny Harrel (Head Coach from Seattle University), Dave Gasser (5-Time Oregon State HS. State Champ), Tucker Brack (University of Portland) and special guest Steve Foster, MLB Bullpen Coach of the Kansas City Royals.

Each year the NWBCC, at the Saturday “Walk of Champions” luncheon honors the achievements of teams and individuals from throughout the Northwest. In addition, special recognition and attention is given in the merit category to the many volunteers who give their time and energy to various programs. Past recipients and clinicians have included many of our highly respected coaches in the region to include: Pat Casey and his Oregon State University staff, two time NCAA Division I National Champions; George Horton and Andrew Checketts, University of Oregon; Donnie Marbut, Washington State University; Lindsay Meggs, University of Washington; Scott Brosius, retired Major League player and World Series MVP currently the head coach at Linfield College; Johnny Pesky, the legendary Boston Red Sox Player, coach and ambassador; Jacoby Ellsbury, former Oregon State University and member of the Boston Red Sox; Marty Hunter from George Fox University; Geoff Loomis from Pacific Lutheran University; and, Ed Cheff, 16-time NAIA National Champion Coach. Also honored are many other respected high school, college and professional coaches and scouts.

The 2013 NWBC Baseball Convention will be held the week following the National ABCA on January 11th-13th, 2013.
