Pinnacle Coaches Return from the National Baseball Coaches Convention

Anaheim, CA - The ABCA 67th Annual Convention was held January 5th-8th, 2012. Over 3,350 coaches attended the show including Mudville Pinnacle coaches Kurt Boyd, Dean Holbrook and Jerry Thornton. Twenty-six clinics and over 300 exhibitors help expanded the club's knowledge base and networking system. The other highlight was the national high school coaches meeting and the honors luncheon.

The ABCA Honors Luncheon sponsored by Rawlings honored the Rawlings Honor Award winners, ABCA 25-Year Coaches, Assistant Coach of the Year, and the Field Maintenance Scholarship & Awards.

The luncheon began with 25-Year honorees and presentation of awards to each coach. Two Northwest coaches received their 25-Year recognition including our own Mudville Pinnacle Head Coach Kurt Boyd, and Fruitland HS (ID) Head Coach Russ Wright. The ABCA 25-year coaching award is given to those members who have coached baseball for 25 years and have been members of the ABCA for at least 5 consecutive years.

The highlight and most memorable event of the banquet included the induction/inspirational speeches by the 2012 Honor Award winners Dave Winfield, Executive Vice President of the San Diego Padres and Mike Scioscia, Manager of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The 2013 ABCA convention will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, IL on January 3rd-6th, 2013.
