2012 Mudville Offseason Training Continues!
Mercer Island, WA – Legendary coach, John Wooden once said, “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” The 2012 Mudville Pinnacle Northwest 18U team understands their mission as their extensive offseason training as they enter into Week #10.
From October through the mid-winter break in February, Mudville prepares their players for high school and summer baseball. Each Mudville Pinnacle player accrues six and one half hours of instruction and drills through the use of classroom, indoor and outdoor venues. Weekly training includes theory, pitching, hitting, team defense, individual defense and conditioning. This is often supplemented with each player’s individual training with their sport specific training and conditioning.
Mudville coaching staff has outlined seventeen weeks of baseball instruction, less the major holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and the mid-Winter school break that precedes the WIAA Spring sports start date. A couple of the weekend dates are set aside for the coaches to attend the regional and national coaches’ conventions. It is supplemented with the teaching experience of their staff and coaching peers.
General Manager Kurt Boyd states, “This is by far the most comprehensive offseason training program we have had in our history.” The instruction follows a logical progression of each of the baseball disciplines. Much of the information has been gained from the club’s association to several major collegiate and professional programs. What is learned in the classroom mid-week is brought forward to both weekend sessions. Each player accumulates an approximate total of 120 hours of offseason instruction.
