- Long-time Mudville Alumni Charlie Ory reports to the Miami University Redhawks fall baseball program as an invited walk-on this month. He is the second former Mudville player to report to an Ohio school this fall with Daniel Schmidt reporting to Ohio U.

What made you decide to join Mudville?
I already knew the coaches, and knew how competitive the program was because I had played for them before.
What can you say about the Mudville coaching staff?
They know their stuff.
What’s your first memory of Mudville?
The Cooperstown tournament when I was 12.
What do you love most about the sport of baseball?
It has way more tradition than any other sport.
If you weren’t playing baseball, what sport(s) would you be playing?
Lacrosse.
What kinds of things do you like to do away from the field?
Play other sports, video games, hang with my friends.
When you attend college, what do you intend to major in and why?
Business, I want to be a successful business owner.
If baseball doesn’t work out, what do you aspire to do after college?
Go into business and eventually run my own business.
Are you involved in the community? If so, what have you done?
Yes, I have volunteered multiple times at a homeless shelter.
Do you have any high school teammates, current or former, who will or already play college baseball? And where?
Garrett DeGallier at Gonzaga and Sam Lindquist at Stanford, both former Mudville Pinnacle players.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given and by whom?

Do you have any pre-game superstitions? If so, what are they?
None.
What number have you worn in high school? Does it have any significance to you?
7, because it’s my lucky number.
If you could meet any three people, dead or alive, who would they be?
Griffey, JFK and Hugh Hefner.
If you could visit one country you’ve never been to, what would that be and why?
Spain, because I’ve always taken Spanish in school and Spain sounds very interesting.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Ken Griffey, Junior.
What is your favorite baseball team?
The Seattle Mariners.
What sporting event would you most like to see?
The World Series.
What’s the most important thing fans should know about you?
I like baseball!
