Five Mudville Players Honored at 2010 All-State Games!

2010 Muddies Lindquist, Smith and DeGallier

Yakima, WA - Four current Mudville Pinnacle players; outfielder Garrett DeGallier (commit to Gonzaga) and RHP Sam Lindquist (commit to Stanford) of Eastside Catholic, infielders Troy Colyer of Liberty HS and Shane Smith, the pride of O'Dea High School were honored at last weekend's Washington All-State Games held at Parker Field in Yakima.  Former long-time Muddie and Bellevue HS outfielder, Nick Moyer were also recognized. 

The games are the brain child of organizers George Benedetti, Mel Moore, Pete Orgill, Bill Walker and Jesse Benedetti with support of the Washington State Coaches Association.  Senior classman are selected from district feeder games, Classification B through 4A from across the state and placed on four teams.  The All-State selections are made on a combination of the following crtieria:

a. Career Stats
b. Senior Season Stats
c. Feeder Game Stats
d. Recommendations of Coaches
e. Ranking from Feeder Game Area
f. Position Needs for the Series

The selection committee also receives and considers input form college coaches, pro scouts, and others connected with high school baseball.  Former Muddies Dan Poplawski, Jeff Melby and Matt Boyd were 2009 All-State Game selections.

Saturday night's banquet honors all the players with a dinner and recognition, featuring guest speakers and Head Coaches Gonzaga’s Mark Machtolf, Washington State’s Donnie Marbut and Portland’s Chris Sperry.  Coach Sperry was an assistant coach at Yakima's Davis HS from 1993-95.  The event is overwhelming supported by the City of Yakima and reported by the Yakima Herald-Republic newspaper.
