Mudville depended on the old adage, 'pitching and defense wins championships'!  So was the case this week as Pinnacle won 6 of 7 games with 5 complete game performances, three of them shutouts.  The Mudville defense was stingy comitting only four errors into total for the week.  In seven games they turned 13 double plays.

The week began with four consecutive complete games begininning with LHP Cam Wilson's performance as he pitched a complete game 4-hitter on Tuesday against the South End Hurricanes, 9-1.  Second to King, Wilson was the workhouse of the Mudville bull pen pitching the  most innings in the tournament.

Next came King's 1st complete game shutout agaisnt the Wave, 8-0, followed by LHP/1B Matt Boyd 13 strikeout, complete game 5-0 shutout of the JBA Bruins, the eventual Connie Mack finalist.  RHP Seafth Howe followed suit with a complete game 4-0 shutout of eventual 3rd place Reality Sports, striking out eight Redmen.

Between Howe's and King's final performance, RHP Connor Sjolander, RHP Patrick Vandergrift and RHP/Closer Troy Colyer silenced the 4th place Marysville Outlaws 4-3.  RHP Andrew Pittman lost the first game of the championship, giving up only two runs to the JBA Bruins.  Wilson and LHP Andrew Villeneuve closed in relief.  The team ERA this week was a 1.08 with 40 strikeouts and 13 walks.

Offensively as a team, Mudville hit .225 and an OBA of .444.  Pinnacle made the most of their wood bat opportunities as they strung hits and walks to collect 35 runs during the week.  Mudville had only 4 extra base hits, a double and 3 homeruns by Infielder/Outfielder Daniel Schmidt, Catcher Peter Summerville and Boyd.  Three Mudville hitters paced the attack; Infielder/Outfielder Brad Binder led the team in batting with a .385 percentage (.385/.500/385).  SS Jeff Melby led the team with an OBA of .550 (.286/.550/.357).  Boyd led the team in slugging with a .471 average (.351/.520/.471).
