- Mudville Pinnacle (40-16, 2-1-1) split a pair of winner's bracket games defeating the Ozark Merchant Tigers of Ozark, Missouri, 3-0 and losing to Denver (CO) Play Ball Sports 10-3.In Game #1, Matt Boyd threw a complete game 2-hitter, striking out six. Jordan Richards doubled home Danny Poplawski to give Pinnacle their first run of the game. Boyd drove in the second run on a fielder’s choice and outfielder Daniel Schmidt singled home the final run to give Mudville the 3-0 victory.
In Game #2, Mudville had 10 hits, one a Jeff Melby solo homerun, but was held to only three runs as it couldn’t capitalize on Play Ball Sports. In contrast, the Colorado team scored 10 runs on eleven hits. James King took the loss. 1st baseman Danny Poplawski, 3rd baseman Danny Poplawski and Melby each had two hits.
Mudville Pinnacle begins their loser bracket play today at 10:30 AM when they take on the Norman North Baseball Club of Norman, OK at O'Brien's Sports Park East. If they win, they will take on the winner of the Oklahoma Panthers and Topeka Stars at 3:30 PM game at Collinsville HS.
