NBC World Series Update Day #1: Mudville Pinnacle Wins One, Ties One; Takes First in Pod

Mudville Beats Oklahoma Panthers 6-0 in the 1st Round

Tulsa, OK - Mudville Pinnacle (39-15) finished 1-0-1 in Pod B play today, capturing the #1 seed from their division, #2 overall in the tournament. Mudville will play the Ozark Merchant Tigers of Missouri tomorrow morning in the first round of double elimination play at the NBC 19U World Series.  The vent is being held at two venues, O'Brien Sports Complex and Collinsville HS.

Mudville used 9 pitchers today, each throwing 1 to 3-inning stints as temperatures climbed in excess of a 100 degrees at Mudville defeated the Oklahoma Panthers of Ada, OK 6-0 and tied the Floyd Redmen of Tulsa 3-3. 

Connor Sjolander gained the victory for Mudville in Game #1.  Catcher Peter Summerville went 2 for 3 with a 3-RBI homerun.  In Game #2, Summerville gave Pinnacle a 2-0 lead with a 2-RBI single.  After tying the game at two, Mudville regained the lead in the top of the seventh with a 2-out RBI single from First Baseman Matt Boyd.  The Redmen would later tie the game in the bottom of the seventh.  Mudville will be challenged by heat tomorrow as the heat index will rise near 110 degrees!
