- Playing under the lights of historic Harris Field on the campus of Lewis & Clark State University, the defending Palouse Summer Series Champions defeated the hometown Lewiston Twins 5-0. A combined shutout by Matt Boyd (4-0) who pitched 5 innings of 3-hit ball, followed by scoreless relief from Cam Wilson and Seafth Howe insured the win.Mudville (23-6, 1-0) tallied in the top of the first with a Catcher Peter Summerville RBI single, scoring Shortstop Jeff Melby who reached on a HBP. In the third inning, Outfielder Jordan Richartz drove in Summerville and 1B Daniel Schmidt. Both players reached on back to back singles to begin the inning.
Top of the fourth, 2B Troy Colyer led off the inning with a single and eventually scored on a Summerville sacrifice fly. Schmidt completed the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh who reached on a single with 2 outs in the inning. Both Schmidt and Summerville had three hits apiece.
Pinnacle plays a doubleheader tonight beginning at 5 PM against the Pilots Baseball Club. The game will again be played at Harris Field. Mudville will then travel to Pullman's Bailey-Brayton Field for a 9 PM tilt against the Billings Royals.
